Tuesday marked the first of many midweek EFL gameweeks. We take a look at the three standout results from the EFL League One and League Two games.

Stockport County 1-2 Bradford City

Bradford travelled to Stockport in what proved to be a thrilling game. Stockport came in to the game as favourites. Bradford would have taken a point before the game.

The Hatters’ 100% record to start the season was ended in the 93rd minute on Saturday’s two all draw to Leyton Orient. The Bantams continued their impressive, unbeaten start to the season with a statement home win against Luton Town at fortress, Valley Parade.

Stockport went in to the break a goal ahead, courtesy of Owen Moxon. Graham Alexander made two changes at the break. Will Swan and Alex Pattison replaced Jenson Metcalfe and Bobby Pointon.

It took four minutes for the subs to prove Alexander’s masterstroke. Pattison teed up Swan for the equaliser. Antoni Sarcevic scored the winner in the 72nd minute, and refused to celebrate against his former side. Sam Walker made the save of the season with the last kick of the game to secure a precious three points. A statement win for the Bantams and a first league defeat for the Hatters. Bradford move up in to fourth place, level on points with Cardiff City in second. Stockport move down in to eight place.

Fleetwood Town 1-4 Crewe Alexandra

Crewe continued their perfect start to the season with a clinical showing away at Fleetwood.

The Alex had enjoyed three wins from three, beating Salford City, Accrington Stanley and Crawley Town. Fleetwood’s 100% record was ended on Saturday away at Bromley, in a two-two draw saved by James Norwood’s stoppage time equaliser.

It took less than a minute for Crewe to take the lead, via Toby Mullarkey’s own goal. It was the summer signing’s second own goal in a week, after netting in the wrong net in last Wednesday’s penalty shootout defeat to Barnsley in the Carabao Cup.

Josh March doubled the lead to give Crewe a two goal advantage going in to the break. Goals from Callum Agius and Reece Hutchinson made it four nil in the 55th minute. James Norwood scored his first home goal for the Cods but the damage had already been done.

Crewe extend their lead to two points at the top whilst Fleetwood drop down in to 10th. Lee Bell needed his side to have a good start to the campaign after a miserable second half of last season. Bell couldn’t have asked for a better start, with four wins from four and summer signing Josh March on fire.

Gillingham 4-1 Chesterfield

Chesterfield made the long trip to Gillingham after a perfect start from the Spireites. Gillingham were looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season, facing on paper their toughest test yet.

Armani Little’s penalty was the difference at half time, as the Gills lead one nil. Deja Vu struck in the 50th minute as Little netted another penalty to give the Gills a two goal advantage. However, Armando Dobra halved the deficit three minutes later. Game on it would seem until Lenni Cirino restored the two goal cushion in the 56th minute. The points were wrapped up by Marcus Wyllie in stoppage time. A statement win by the Gills who are looking to gain promotion to League One this season after three dismal seasons away.
