Altrincham have completed the signing of Salford City forward Marcus Dackers on a loan deal, as confirmed via a statement on the club’s website.
The 20-year-old has signed a short-term loan deal with the National League side, which is due to expire in the new year with Altrincham becoming the latest club in his short career thus far.
Dackers has made 12 appearances in all competitions for Salford City so far this season, scoring his only goal during the club’s 3-1 defeat against Stockport County in the EFL Trophy.
The Welshman began his career with Brighton Hove Albion before joining Salford in 2021. He’s since had loan spells with the likes of Southend United and Chester FC before finishing the previous campaign with fellow National League side Woking, helping them to a play-off place.
At 6ft7, Dackers is expected to add a different dynamic to Phil Parkinson’s side and will be surrounded by a host of talented forwards such as Dior Angus, Regan Linney and Chris Conn-Clarke.
The forward has signed in time to face an out-of-form Solihull Moors side this weekend, where a victory could take Altrincham as high as sixth place.
After 20 league games so far this season, Altrincham currently sit in seventh place, occupying the final play-off place. They have lost just four times this season, level with Bromley and Solihull Moors.
Upon signing for the National League side, the striker spoke exclusively to the club’s website where he stated…
“As a striker, my main goal is to put the ball in the back of the net. There is a lot more I always want to add to the team, but my first thought when I step on to the pitch is ‘can I get on the scoresheet?’
“I remember being impressed with Alty’s style of play in that Woking game. The intention was always to get the ball down and move it around, and they broke us down quite well that day.
“That stayed with me, and I knew Altrincham were a club I would want to go to on loan if the chance was there. The manager spoke to me about how I can add to the team and help boost the attack until January, then we take it from there.”

Dackers has been made available by Salford City due to the form of experienced forward Matt Smith and Altrincham have acted quickly to snap up the forward.
As stated above, he brings a different style of play to Phil Parkinson’s side as well as adding both EFL and National League experience back into the side.
