Arsenal To Swoop For Bundesliga Star?

Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich is said to be one target that Arsenal could make a move to sign in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners are yet to make their first signing in the transfer window, which opened last week, with numerous names linked with the North London club who will continue their hunt for a Premier League title after narrowly missing out last season.

World-class striker Viktor Gyokeres, who has been prolific since his move to Sporting CP, is one name also linked with a move to the Emirates. Reports would suggest that the Gunners are closing in on the signing of the Swedish striker.

Other positions remain on the radar of Spanish boss Mikel Arteta, who is preparing to overhaul his squad this summer, making room for some new faces.

Kimmich wants out of Munich.

The Bayern Munich star is coming towards the end of his contract with the German giants, and it is said to be unlikely he will extend his stay with the club past that year. Despite the reports of willingness to wait on his contract, he is reportedly willing to consider a move this summer.

Kimmich is a serial winner, picking up numerous league titles during his time at the Allianz Arena, as well as a Champions League victory, amongst other trophies.

Due to the midfielder being willing to wait out his contract with the club and leave on a free transfer next summer, Munich are looking to offload him this summer so they do not lose one of their highest earners without a transfer fee. Multiple clubs are interested in the Germany international, including Manchester City, Liverpool and Real Madrid.

With the midfielder currently representing his country at the European Championships his native country is hosting, talks are said to resume once he returns from the tournament.

Munich to hold talks with Kimmich.

The 29-year-old currently has no agent, meaning clubs who wish to sign the midfielder would have to contact him directly to sell their project to the star looking for his next move.

That could be made difficult by Kimmich’s willingness to wait for his contract to run out. An attractive project such as Arsenal, who are putting together the final pieces on a title-winning team, could persuade him to move to the Premier League.

With an overhaul looking likely at Arsenal this summer, Kimmich could be a signing that adds depth to the side and ensures quality in midfield, alongside a winning mentality with the trophies on his resume.

The German club have already completed their first signing of this summer transfer window, bringing Michael Olise to the club from Premier League side Crystal Palace.

Clearout to begin at Arsenal.

Players deemed surplus to requirements have already made their way out of the door in North London. Long sever midfielder Mohammed Elneny was one notable squad player who left at the end of his contract with Portuguese defender Cedric Soares.

More players who feature in the squad have been linked with exits in the summer transfer market, such as Thomas Partey, who has struggled to replicate the form he once displayed in Spain with Atletico Madrid. Kieran Tierney spent last season on loan with Real Sociedad, but options at left-back combined with his struggles with injury see the Scot also linked with an exit.

Reiss Nelson is the final notable name, who has said he is looking to move away from the club this summer. According to Football Insider, the winger has been targeted by West Ham United and Nottingham Forest as he hopes to find more first-team football.

Given their recent expenditure in transfer windows, you would imagine it is unlikely to see numerous high-profile signings before this squad overhaul has begun.
