Following an emotional entrance into the football league, Bromley have taken to the dizzy heights of life in the EFL like ducks to water so far this season.

Having started the season like a steam train, winning their opening pair of matches, Andy Woodman’s side have understandably hit a slump and sit in 13th place and only nine points off Salford City who occupy the final play-off spot.

Season so far

Home form will however concern fans as they’ve only picked up a measly 15 points from 14 matches at Hayes Lane compared to an impressive 24 from 16 matches away from home.

Entertainment has not been lacking in recent weeks however as their last five matches have included 14 goals. Having conceded 40 goals so far this term, they will need to tighten up at the back but with a combination of youth and experience at centre-back in Deji Elerewe & Byron Webster, they’re in capable hands looking into the second half of the season.

The Ravens top scorer list is led by frontman Michael Cheek having hit the net 14 times this season. The rest of the list is followed by Cameron Congreve, Omar Sowunmi & Ben Thompson all on four.

Attacking midfielder Thompson has been in excellent form all season and his driving runs from midfield along with his ability to create big goalscoring chances for the likes of Cheek is one of many standout reasons Bromleys first season in the EFL has been a raging success so far.

Looking ahead

With Walsall sitting pretty at the top of League two with 60 points, it’s hard to see Mat Sadler’s side being caught with the likes of Nathan Lowe and Jamille Matt on fire this season.

But the remaining pair of automatic promotion spots are still up for grabs with nine teams all within five points of 2nd placed Notts County and Bradford City.

It’s just as competitive at the bottom end of the league with nine points separating the bottom five clubs with Carlisle (21) and Morecambe (23) the teams occupying the relegation spots at the moment.

With over a quarter of the season left to play, Bromley fans will be hoping for a significant improvement in their home form but overall it’s been a hugely successful season so far considering they’ve only arrived in the EFL.
