Aston Villa may be on the rise once again over the last few seasons, but it isn’t just their first-team players that are impressing but their U21s loanees as well.
Unai Emery’s side have allowed several of their young players to head into the EFL on their own loan deals, with some lasting until January and some for the duration of the 2024/25 campaign.
For one of those individuals, their hard work and positive performances during their current loan spell is set to be rewarded with a brand new contract at Villa Park.
Aston Villa set for Marschall talks
As reported by Football Insider, Aston Villa are set to enter contract talks with goalkeeper Filip Marschall, who is currently on loan at League Two side Crewe Alexandra.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed previous loan stints away from Villa Park with the likes of Gateshead and MK Dons but his latest stint with Crewe Alexandra is the one that’s impressed the Villa hierarchy the most.
Marschall is currently under contract with the Premier League giants until June 2027 but is set to enter contract talks ahead of a more lucrative deal at Villa Park.
How has he fared so far this season?
Since making the move to Crewe Alexandra during the summer transfer window, Marschall has made 19 league appearances for Lee Bell’s side, keeping a total of eight clean sheets as they continue to fight for automatic promotion to League One.
He has also averaged 2.3 saves per 90 minutes thus far, saving a total of 73% of the efforts he’s faced throughout the campaign so far this season.
Four additional appearances have also been earned during Crewe’s cup competitions so far this season and his overall stock has risen since making his first-team debut for Aston Villa in November 2023 in the UEFA Conference League.
