Marcus Rashford is closing in on a move away from Manchester United as Barcelona agree deal for the Premier League forward.
The Englishman is one of five players who have been cast aside and put up for sale by Ruben Amorim’s Red Devils.
He is joined by Jadon Sancho, Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Alejandro Garnacho.
The group were all given additional time away from training to prepare a move away from the club.
However, despite interest in Nico Williams and Luis Diaz, Rashford’s intention to move to the Catalan side have not wavered.
Marcus Rashford Agrees Deal to Move from Manchester United to Barcelona
Rashford is set to undergo a medical next week when Manchester United release him to travel.
The deal, according to David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano, is a loan for the upcoming season. It also includes the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the campaign.
Barcelona will be covering his entire wages as part of the deal, freeing up a huge chunk of Man Utd’s wage bill.
Not Perfect for Manchester United but A Temporary Solution
The situation surrounding United and Rashford had become toxic. Public accusations of training dedication and poor attitude did nothing to help the player find a move.
He also failed to set the world alight at Aston Villa, enough that they opted not to sign him at the end of his loan.
He has been ‘flirting’ with Barcelona since January and made it clear that he would only join them. Which made offloading him even more difficult with the tight finances available on both sides.
This solution is the best for all parties. Rashford gets the move he wants, Barcelona get a ‘try before you buy’ and Manchester United remove his wages and receive either a fee at the end, or the player back with game time under his belt who they can sell much easier.
