Barnsley and two of their League One rivals are interested in Barnet forward Ryan Glover, alongside a promotion-chasing League Two outfit.
Peterborough United and Wigan Athletic are the named third-tier sides credited with an interest in the 25-year-old.
But they also face competition from the ambitious Salford City, according to Football League World.
In Demand
The versatile Bees man, who has played everywhere across midfield and in attacking areas, has featured in all 24 of their League Two encounters this season. He has found the net in three victories, adding two assists in the fourth tier. Glover played a key role in the Barnet side which stormed to the National League title last term, scoring eight times and providing nine assists.
Born in Yeovil, he has played at a higher level with AFC Bournemouth, making a solitary cup appearance during his decade-long stay with the Cherries. But his career since has been spent in non-league, representing Aldershot Town before moving to north-west London in the summer of 2024.
League One Interest
Barnsley will have received a fresh windfall of cash following their FA Cup exploits at Liverpool last night. Along with a share of the Anfield gate receipts, the Tykes fixture was televised, potentially increasing their spending abilities in the January transfer window.
Reyes Cleary and Davis Keillor-Dunn are already in high demand, and with David McGoldrick now 38 years of age, the South Yorkshire outfit could look to Glover for a fresh injection in their attack. They have as many as five games in hand on some of their third-tier rivals, meaning a big squad will be needed to manage the demand of the upcoming run of fixtures.
Speaking of the FA Cup, Wigan were drawn away to Arsenal yesterday evening, which could also give them a boost in the winter window. Ryan Lowe’s outfit are one of the lowest scorers in the division, outside of the bottom four sides. In terms of points, they are just three above the relegation places, sitting in that congested middle ground of League One sides.
Peterborough were the basement side in the third-tier just a few short months ago, but they now have their eyes set on a Play-Off push in the second half of the campaign. The arrival of Luke Williams has been instrumental to their rise up the standings, and he will be looking to stamp his authority on the squad in this window.
Posh are well-known for plucking players out of non-league. While Glover has surpassed that level, he could provide the impetus needed for the Cambridgeshire outfit to break into the top six.
What About Salford?
Salford are another side interested in acquiring Glover’s services. On paper at least, they feel the least likely to sign the 25-year-old, given they are a division below the rest of the teams said to be in contention.
But they may be able to guarantee more frequent gametime, which could give them the advantage in this particular battle. Obviously, money talks at the end of the day, but the Ammies can’t be ruled out with their own spending power.
