Barnsley Submit Another Bid for Mansfield Town’s 22-Goal Attacker

Barnsley have submitted a second bid for Mansfield Town’s Davis Keillor-Dunn as they look to fill their attacking void.

The Tykes are trying their best to get a deal for Mansfield attacker Keillor-Dunn over the line before the end of the transfer window tonight.

The League One club have had several bids turned down for the attacking midfielder but have sent Mansfield another offer for the 26-year-old.

Keillor-Dunn to Barnsley?

The Barnsley Chronicle reported that Barnsley have submitted an increased bid for Keillor-Dunn. The deal is believed to be closer to the Mansfield asking price of £750,000.

Despite the increased offer, there’s no indication yet if Nigel Clough and Mansfield will let their star man leave for a fellow League One club.

How did Keillor-Dunn do last season?

Keillor-Dunn was Mansfield’s star man last season. He was the club’s top scorer with 22 goals and also chipped in with 10 assists.

He received a Sofascore average rating of 7.54 for his performances in League Two which helped the Stags to promotion. His 7.54 rating made him the club’s top performer with Sofascore, finishing clear of second place Stephen Quinn, who scored 7.32.

In front of goal, he was a nuisance for defences. He scored a goal every 155 minutes for Mansfield and averaged 1.5 shots on target per game. Keillor-Dunn finished the season with a goal conversion of 14%.

He was also instrumental in building attacks for the team. Over the league season, he created 14 big chances and averaged 2.2 key passes per game.

He’s had a mixed start to life in League One. His average rating is just 6.57, and he’s yet to assist or score for Mansfield this campaign.

Is this a good signing for Barnsley? – opinion

Barnsley need to bring in some attacking reinforcements. They came close with Edvardsen, who decided against moving to South Yorkshire on loan, despite being at the ground for his medical.

Keillor-Dunn is a player who’s coming into this season after a 32-goal contribution season last time out. He could be a big part of Barnsley’s attack when it comes to both scoring and assisting.

His start to the League One campaign might worry them slightly, given he’s yet to contribute in any of Mansfield’s opening three games. However, with quality players like Conor Hourihane, Adam Phillips, and Luca Connell around him, he could quickly change that if he makes the move to Barnsley.
