Birmingham City were believed to have agreed a loan deal for Tottenham youth star, Alfie Devine, although a move has sensationally collapsed on deadline day.
Various Championship and European sides are now believed to be interested in the Tottenham youngster following the collapse of his Birmingham City loan.
Championship sides were interested in Devine
20-year-old creative midfielder, Alfie Devine, was attracting interest from Danny Rohl’s Sheffield Wednesday according to the Sheffield Star, although Birmingham City beat off is believed to be vast interest in the midfielder to agree a deal.
Devine signed for Tottenham back in the summer of 2020 from Wigan Athletic at just 15 years old, being rewarded with a professional contract a year later, with Spurs displaying their faith in the teenager by offering the midfielder yet another deal the following summer, keeping Devine under contract until 2027.
The Tottenham Academy star has picked up thirteen caps for England’s U20 side and even trained with Gareth Southgate’s senior side last season following an injury to Bukayo Saka.
Devine was initially loaned to Port Vale in League One last season where the 20-year-old midfielder recorded three goals and three assists, leading Spurs to fast-track the rising star’s development by sending Devine on loan to Plymouth Argyle.
Devine’s move to Birmingham City has fallen through
Birmingham City, who are clear favourites for the League One title having announced their sixteenth signing of the summer in Scott Wright, have seen a move for Alfie Devine fall through according to Football Insider.
The Blues perhaps had the edge over rival clubs interested in signing the 20-year-old Tottenham midfielder on loan due to having former Tottenham assistant manager, Chris Davies, in charge, who is likely to be familiar with Devine having worked with the midfielder last pre-season.
Football Insider stated that the sudden collapse of Devine’s prospective Birmingham City move has alerted other interested clubs.
Alasdair Gold on X has stated that a loan move for the 20-year-old could still happen with Blackburn Rovers, Swansea City and Parma just a handful of the sides believed to be interested.
