Blackpool Receive £1.5 Million Move from Championship Club

Blackpool

League One Blackpool are the subject of a £1.5 million attempt from Championship side Hull City to sign striker Kyle Joseph as they look to fend off the threat of relegation.

The Tigers have launched the attempt following reports earlier in the week that they were interested in adding the former Championship striker to their squad this January transfer window. Ruben Selles is keen to add to his squad after struggling to drastically turn around the club’s fortunes following his move from Reading to the struggling second tier side.

Joseph has been in fine form this season for Steve Bruce’s side, scoring seven goals and contributing two assists in 24 games this season. It is a dramatic improvement after only scoring once in 30 attempts last season.
He has previously had success with Oxford United where he scored nine goals in 37 appearances in League One. The forward has also been on the books of Swansea City, Cheltenham Town and Wigan Athletic, but arguably his most successful spell has been with the Seasiders.

Now, according to Alan Nixon the Championship side are set to test Blackpool’s resolve with a £1.5million bid, but it is speculated that they could need as much as £2 million to secure his services.

Hull City’s Desperate Bid for Survival

Hull City’s season has not gone to plan so far, as they sit occupying the final relegation spot, only ahead of struggling Portsmouth and Plymouth Argyle who recently replaced Wayne Rooney. There appears to be a gap appearing between Luton Town in 20th and Stoke City in 19th, which could cut off the relegation battle into a five-way survival bid.

The club will know that they need to provide Ruben Selles with the best possible opportunity to save the club from relegation. League One has become more tough in recent years, despite both Huddersfield Town and Birmingham City in the race to bounce straight back. Rotherham United have shown what can happen if you are not fully prepared for the drop, as have numerous clubs in the past that have been swallowed up by the competitive nature of the third tier.
