League One forward Kyle Joseph is being pursued by Championship side Hull City this January transfer window, according to reports.
The 23-year-old has been with the Seasiders since the summer of 2023 and has gone on to impress at the League One club. This season he has contributed seven goals and two assists in the league over 24 appearances.
This marks a significant improvement on last year’s tally of one goal in 30 appearances.
He has previously had spells at Swansea City, Oxford United, Cheltenham Town and Wigan Athletic.
His contract is due to run until the summer of 2026, meaning if Hull City wish to sign him, as Football League World suggest, a transfer fee will be required.
The Tigers will be hoping that he can help provide a spark in their attack to aid in their bid for survival from relegation into League One.
Ruben Selles’ Difficult Task
Ruben Selles is no stranger to overcoming the odds. At Reading, he had to contend with serious off-field issues and points deductions but was still able to form a competitive side willing to fight for the fans in the stands.
At Hull City, however, he has been faced with a different challenge. He has resources at his disposal but needs to utilise them quickly to ensure that he doesn’t find himself back in the third tier next season.
They currently sit 23rd in the table, just a couple of points from safety with the January window, the first opportunity for Selles to bring in some players to fit his style of play.
Joseph is a player that the former Reading man will know well from his time in League One and it will be interesting to see if he can turn his form this season into something special if he returns to the Championship.
However, should Hull find themselves relegated once again, they will have a League One ready striker already settled into their squad.
