Bolton Wanderers To Beat Championship Promotion Hopefuls To 33-Goal Forward

BOLTON WANDERERS

Bolton Wanderers are set to fend off Championship interest to complete the signing of Non-League star Charlie Warren as one of their first arrivals of the summer transfer window.

Steven Schumacher’s side are closing in on an agreement to land the 20-year-old on a permanent contract, following a successful trial with the League One side back in February.

With the campaign now at an end (for Bolton at least), the club are pressing ahead with summer recruits and Warren is someone on the list.

Warren heading to Bolton

According to a report via Football League World, Bolton Wanderers have fended off a late pursuit from Championship promotion-chasers Coventry City to secure Warren’s signature.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a standout campaign with Isthmian League North Division side Felixstowe and Walton, and his performances have almost certainly warranted EFL attention heading into the upcoming transfer window.

How has he fared this season?

Warren has been a regular feature for Felixstowe and Walton this season and has caught the attention of several EFL clubs with a deal likely to be done considering he isn’t on a professional contract currently.

He’s scored 33 goals across all competitions for the Non-League side as well as contributing 20 assists, bringing his overall goal total for the 2024/25 campaign to 53.

What would the plan be for him?

Admittedly, despite Warren’s outstanding goal-contribution total for the campaign, he is unlikely to immediately be a success in the first team for the League One side.

This is due to Warren’s current level and experience. He is only 20 and has been playing in the lower leagues of English part-time football, meaning the transition into full-time football will come as a huge step for him.

Warren is therefore likelier to head out on loan for the 2025/26 campaign rather than playing youth football or staying and making a very limited number of appearances.

A deal to take Warren to Bolton Wanderers isn’t completely over the line yet, but it appears likely that he will be heading for League One football next season.
