Bolton Wanderers Set to Sign Wrexham Forward

BOLTON WANDERERS

Wrexham striker Sam Dalby is reportedly completing a medical at Bolton Wanderers today, as the Englishman is set to remain in League One after a great loan spell with Dundee United.

The 25-year-old signed for Wrexham from Southend in 2022 and managed to make 91 appearances for the Welsh club, scoring 13 times.

He was a key part of Phil Parkinson’s side that got promoted from the National League with a record 111 points in 2023 but has since fallen out of favour during Wrexham’s astonishing climb through the English pyramid.

With Wrexham now facing their first season in the Championship and Dalby coming off his best scoring season in his career, it seems his time with the Red Dragons is coming to an end.

Dalby to Bolton?

According to Pete O’Rourke, Wrexham striker Sam Dalby is having a medical at Bolton Wanderers ahead of an imminent move to the Lancashire side.

Dalby enjoyed a fantastic loan spell with Dundee United, scoring 15 times whilst helping them to a fourth-placed finish in the Scottish Premiership.

His fine form has earned him plenty of interest, but it looks like Bolton will be the one to land his signature ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

The Right Decision for Wrexham?

Although Dalby showed a lot of promise for the Welsh side in both the National League and League Two, he has never seemingly fit the system that Phil Parkinson utilises.

With him spending this season on loan too, it is clear that the club do not feel he is ready to make the jump to the Championship next season.

Therefore, letting him make a move to a contending team in League One next season is likely the best move for both Dalby and Wrexham moving forward.

A Good Addition for Bolton?

Although Dalby struggled to break into the Wrexham side this season, it was a side with major attacking talent.

The Englishman managed to show exactly how good he could be with consistent game time with Dundee, and it is no surprise that Bolton have taken a punt on the 25-year-old.

If he can maintain his scoring form into the 25/26 season, Dalby has the potential to be a very shrewd signing for Steven Schumacher’s side as they aim to return to the Championship this season.
