League Two side Carlisle United announced yesterday the signing of midfielder Dominic Sadi on a season-long loan deal from Premier League Bournemouth.
Who is Dominic Sadi?
The 20-year-old began his career in the West Ham United academy and earned a scholarship with the Hammers.Â
After being released by West Ham in 2021 he joined Isthmian League Premier Division side Wingate & Finchley where he made six appearances and scored twice. The move also vitally helped him gain experience in senior men’s football.
His form with Wingate & Finchley earned him a trial with Premier League club Bournemouth in 2022. During his trial he impressed many at the club and was handed a contract to join the development team at the Vitality Stadium.Â
Sadi made his Premier League debut for the club in a 3-0 victory over Brighton last season and has made a further three first-team appearances in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup for the Cherries.Â
What’s been said?
Manager Paul Simpson said: “I’m really pleased to have Dom here. I think he’s a really exciting young footballer and his record in the development teams with Bournemouth is excellent.Â
“He’s somebody who can get goals and he’s a creative player, so I’m hoping for goals and assists from him.Â
“He’s jumped at the opportunity to come and have this chance to play first team football and I’m looking forward to seeing him working.Â
“He’s a good friend of Dan [Adu-Adjei] and I asked him about him when we were thinking about signing him. He gave him a glowing reference and from what we’ve seen of him, we think he’ll add something different to the group.Â
“It’s a challenge for him because it’s his first loan out, but Bournemouth think really highly of him, and once he settles in I’m sure he’ll be a really good addition to the squad.”Â
Where will Sadi fit in at Brunton Park?
Sadi will add much-needed depth in the attacking midfield department for Paul Simpson’s side, especially after the injury to fellow summer recruit Ethan Robson. The move will bolster the Cumbrians squad for the coming season but will also give Sadi some vital experience and minutes to help with his development.
The 20-year-old will join fellow Bournemouth youngster Daniel Adu-Adjei who joined Carlisle United on loan earlier this month. Carlisle fans will be hoping Sadi can hit the ground running like his Bournemouth teammate has so far this season. Adu-Adjei has started both league games so far this season scoring the winning goal against rivals Barrow last weekend.
Sadi will wear the number 24 jersey this season for the League Two side and could make his debut on Saturday against MK Dons.
