Bradford City are keen to add a striker in the remaining days of the transfer window, with links to the likes of Paul Mullin and Jake Beesley emerging. Today, reports have linked the club with another forward.
The West Yorkshire club have performed well this season, currently sitting fifth in League One after a dramatic promotion from League Two. However, recent weeks have been difficult with many questions surrounding the club’s forward players.
Will Swan and Antoni Sarcevic have faced temporary spells on the sidelines, while Andy Cook has joined Grimsby Town on loan, leaving Graham Alexander short of forward options.
Bradford City In ‘Advanced Talks’ For Striker
According to reports from Football League World, Bradford City are in advanced talks for Derby County’s Kayden Jackson. The 31-year-old has become surplus to requirements at Pride Park, with John Eustace’s Rams now challenging for a place in the Championship top six.
With his departure a strong possibility before the Monday 7 pm deadline, he would join a string of outgoings at the East Midlands club. This window has seen the likes of Ebou Adams, Curtis Nelson, and Richard O’Donnell part ways with the club.
Jackson featured in all 46 of Derby’s league fixtures last year, but is currently behind the likes of Carlton Morris and Patrick Agyemang and has only started two matches this season.
Nonetheless, the former Ipswich Town man is a useful forward at the League One level. Versatile and capable of operating on the right flank and through the middle. Regarded for his pace and work rate, he often chipped in with a handful of goals and assists during his time at Portman Road.
Bradford City’s Striker Search
With Monday’s deadline looming, Alexander is keen to add to his forward options in the coming days.
As previously mentioned, City are reportedly interested in Wrexham’s Paul Mullin and Burton Albion’s Jake Beesley, with a forward addition a necessity for the West Yorkshire club, with Jackson now joining the conversation.
While wins have been hard to come by in recent weeks, the right addition up front could rejuvenate City for the second half of the campaign. The squad boasts a great deal of quality on the flanks in Josh Neufville and Ibou Touray, and Bobby Pointon is one of the most exciting forwards in the EFL.
Bradford are set to host Yorkshire rivals Doncaster Rovers tomorrow, and are in desperate need of the three points to maintain their hold on the League One top six following four defeats in their last five.
