Bradford City manager Graham Alexander has made a crucial update following their victory over Bromley in regards to a potential exit from the League Two side.

The Bantams ended Bromley’s 100% start to life in the Football League, following a 3-1 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Ashley Charles suffered an early red card for the visitors which allowed Richie Smallwood to convert the resulting spot-kick to make it 1-0 before Andy Cook and Bobby Pointon added to the tally.

Bromley pulled a goal back through Byron Webster but it was too little too late.

Following the final whistle, Graham Alexander addressed the future of one of the players who didn’t feature in the match.

Young on his way…

During his post-match interview (via Jamie Raynor), Bradford City manager Graham Alexander confirmed that the club have accepted a bid from a rival League Two side for striker Jake Young.

Although the club hasn’t been confirmed at this stage, Alexander also confirmed that the decision on whether or not he moves on is solely down to the player.

How did Young fare last season?

Young kicked off the 2023/24 campaign on loan with fellow League Two side Swindon Town after falling out of favour at Valley Parade.

Whilst out on loan, Young made 26 appearances in all competitions for the club and scored an eye-catching 16 goals in the process and was unsurprisingly recalled by Bradford City upon the opening of the January transfer window.

After returning to Bradford, Young was limited to just five further first-team appearances but failed to add to his total.

Which club is likely to sign him?

Young’s former loan side Swindon Town could be an ideal destination for the striker due to his success in the previous campaign.

Meanwhile, Carlisle United have struggled for form so far this season and have previously dealt with Bradford last January when they signed goalkeeper Harry Lewis, which could have developed a relationship that sees Young move to the club.

However, the true nature of the team involved in the bid remains to be seen.
