Bradford City have been rejected by former Lincoln City manager Danny Cowley in a last minute u-turn, according to BBC reporter Ian Dennis.
The Lincoln City legend had been lined up to become the new Bantams manager, agreeing terms at the beginning of the weeks only to perform a u-turn and reject the deal potentially lining up a spectacular return to his former club.
Mark Hughes was sacked almost one month ago after a poor start to the season, with Cowley leading the bookmakers odds for much of that time. However, the League Two side may have to head back to the drawing board.
Cowley rose to prominence for his part in the meteoric rise of the Imps from the National League to League One with three trophies and an FA Cup Quarter Final appearance to his name. He departed to join Hudderfield Town, and managed to keep them in the second tier despite taking over with his side bottom of the table. He was sacked at the end of this season later linking up with Portsmouth in League One where he remained until earlier this year.He has also managed Concord Rangers and Braintree Town.

The month long managerial saga at Valley Parade looks like it could be continuing after the latest news. Danny Cowley would have suited them perfectly, a manager that puts a real emphasis on community and the fans whilst also knowing what it takes to compete at that level. Had it not have been for the Lincoln City job, I fully believe he would have been high fiving Billy Bantam next week. But that draw to finish the job he started, at a club he has legendary status could be too hard to turn down. However, that is putting two and two together which as a Lincoln fan myself, I certainly cannot help.
