Bristol City defender Duncan Idehen has completed a move to National League South leaders Yeovil Town until the end of January, as confirmed via a statement on the club’s website.
Mark Cooper’s side are currently on a 14-match winning run following their 4-2 victory against Farnborough on Tuesday evening and are flying high at the top of the National League South standings following their relegation to regionalised football last season.
The 21-year-old featured for the likes of Norwich City and Lincoln City as a youth prospect before moving to Ashton Gate via Birmingham City on a free transfer. It was here that Idehen made his first-team debut during a Championship clash in April 2022 between Derby County and Bristol City, before joining Carlisle United on loan at the start of last season which also allowed him to score his first professional goal.
Fortunately for Yeovil Town supporters, Idehen has joined the sixth-tier side ahead of their Isuzu Trophy clash against Torquay United this weekend, with a win for the Glovers taking them comfortably into the third round of the competition.
Bristol City are now managed by former Oxford United and MK Dons boss Liam Manning and have sent another youngster out to the Glovers, following a defensive injury for Mark Cooper’s men.
This isn’t the first time that a Bristol City player has joined Yeovil, with both Josh Owers and Seb Palmer-Houlden joining the club on loan last season as they thought for their lives in the National League.
Writer’s View
Yeovil Town have suffered a defensive setback which has ultimately led to them being forced into securing a new addition for the defensive line ahead of this weekend’s cup clash.
However judging by social media comments, Bristol City supporters aren’t best pleased to see the club offload a player like Duncan Idehen, it gives him regular game time and will only make him an even better player.
