Cardiff City‘s Tanatswa Nyakuhwa is in demand this January, with Bristol Rovers set to battle rivals Newport County for the winger.
The Wales youth international has emerged as a first-team player with the Bluebirds this season, one of many academy players promoted by Brian Barry-Murphy since he began his tenure in the summer.
Having made eight appearances in South Wales this season, including three matches in League One, a potential loan exit has been touted through a new report.
Game Time Options Emerge
According to Darren Witcoop via social media, Nyakuhwa has found interest in League Two sides Bristol Rovers and Newport County as both look to improve their place in the fourth division table.
The Gas have begun a massive rebuild under Steve Evans this January, with five loan players sent packing, before the former Stevenage man moved to recall Isaac Hutchinson from his successful loan at Cheltenham Town.
A short move east to 24th-placed Newport County is also on the cards, with former Leicester City man Christian Fuchs looking to stave off relegation in what could be a five-way battle to avoid the bottom two.
Having featured for Wales’ under-21 side in the October and November international breaks, a loan move could now be on the cards after interest was batted away in the summer.
Interest emerged from within the EFL, with two unnamed clubs joining Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock and Belgian giants Anderlecht in making offers to Cardiff, according to the BBC.
Is The Time For A Loan Move Now?
Following interest in late August, Cardiff City’s stance seemed to be that Tanatswa Nyakuhwa would have a large role to play amid the injury Ollie Tanner at the beginning of the campaign.
However, with the 23-year-old now back in action and partnering well with Chris Willock on the other wing, opportunities have been limited for the youngster, seeing him not make a single matchday squad since the Bluebirds’ EFL Cup tie with Chelsea.
Bristol Rovers and Newport County offer interesting prospects for Brian Barry-Murphy to consider and either could be a great place to begin his senior career.
The more enticing destination should be at the Memorial Stadium, with Steve Evans very willing to try out young players, having also enquired about Wrexham’s Harry Ashfield last week.
Evans’ EFL experience will surely be a big bonus for the winger to learn from, and with a proven League Two goalscorer in Fabrizio Cavegn in front of him and Isaac Hutchinson alongside him, Nyakuhwa could contribute to a promising attack at the start of a major rebuild for Rovers.
