Relegated League One side Bristol Rovers are set to name former manager Darrell Clarke as their new boss ahead of the upcoming League Two campaign.
Clarke has been out of work since departing Barnsley in March 2025, after just 44 games in charge. He recorded 18 wins, seven draws and 19 defeats in his time at the club and was sacked after defeats to Charlton Athletic and Blackpool.
Prior to that he had been in charge of Cheltenham Town but moved on following their relegation to League Two.
Back to Bristol Rovers for Darrell Clarke
Bristol Rovers fans will be deeply familiar with Clarke, he has over 240 games on his CV as boss of The Gas between 2014 and 2018 recording over 100 wins. He was released from his contract having asked to be let go from his deal following a run of poor form.
“After much soul-searching and lengthy deliberations it has been mutually agreed that it is probably in the best interests of the club and of Darrell Clarke to seek a fresh way forward,” said a Bristol Rovers statement.
“Darrell will remain a friend of the club and will no doubt achieve further success in his career after a deserved break.
“The board is expecting substantial interest in the vacant manager’s role and an appointment will be made as soon as practical.”
Now confirmed by sources close to THE DECK Darrell Clarke is set to be appointed shortly. (This has also now been confirmed by Bristol Rovers).
Bristol Rovers Rebuild
The club have already released their retained list with a massive rebuild set to take place over the summer with a large number of players departing the club ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
