Bromley Pursue Move For Crystal Palace Defender

EFL new-boys Bromley are pursuing a deal to land a Premier League defender, as they continue their preparations ahead of their debut campaign in the fourth tier.

Andy Woodman’s side clinched their first promotion to the football league, following a penalty shootout victory against Solihull Moors and now continue to search for new signings ahead of their history-making season.

After landing former Arsenal defender Taylor Foran earlier this week, Bromley appear to be focused on continuing their defensive reinforcements ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Imray on the radar

According to journalist Alan Nixon, Andy Woodman’s Bromley are interested in signing Crystal Palace full-back Danny Imray on a season-long loan deal.

The full-back is also reportedly interested in a move to the League Two side, despite having other offers on the table.

How did Imray fare last season?

The 20-year-old made 21 appearances in all competitions for Crystal Palace’s U21s last season, operating as both a right-back and right-sided midfielder at youth level.

During that time, Imray contributed to 11 goals in the process which also included a brace of assists during a Premier League 2 clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

He also featured in the EFL Trophy on three occasions last season, including picking up an assist during a 5-2 defeat against League One side Stevenage.

In terms of his first-team experience, the defender is yet to make an appearance for the Crystal Palace first-team but did make 32 appearances on loan with National League South side Chelmsford City.

Can Imray make a difference for Bromley?

Regardless of their internal goals, Bromley will likely have an initial goal of securing their safety in League Two as quickly as they can, before focussing on finishing higher.

One way they can achieve safety is by improving the quality and depth of their current squad and the addition of Imray would almost certainly provide that.

Although he has a noticeable lack of first-team experience aside from a spell in Non-League, the fact he managed double figures for goal contributions last season will almost certainly be an exciting asset for Andy Woodman’s side next season.
