Bromley Win Race For National League Star

National League Bromley FC have announced the signing of midfielder Ashley Charles from fellow National League side Wealdstone Fc, as confirmed via a statement on the club’s website.

The 24-year-old Grenada international joins the club for an undisclosed fee following Bromley triggering his release clause.

Media speculation saw Charles linked to a move to Notts County to link up with former boss Stewart Maynard, but the Ravens have won the race for the central midfielder.

Charles joins from part-time side Wealdstone, where he has been applying his trade since 2019 after joining from Watford Academy where he had a loan spell at Barnet before his move to the Stones. during his time at The Stones, he has made 136 appearances and been an ever-present in the middle of the park during Stuart Maynard’s managerial spell at the club.

Charles leaves an in-form Wealdstone sitting 12th in the league on 37 points, which is an impressive tally for a part-time side in a division of teams that are mostly full-time. They have also only lost one of their last seven league games and during that spell have won twice in the FA Trophy. He has made 25 appearances this season in all competitions picked up two assists for them and has been a key part of their form as of recently.

On the other hand, The midfield technician joins a Bromley side who sit 2nd in the league on 58 points. Andy Woodman’s men have had a brilliant season and so far are the side in the division who have gotten the closest to League favourites Chesterfield, who currently top the table on 74 points.

This is a top signing in my honest opinion. Charles is so technically good, he has great passing range and is capable of dictating the pace of the game.

He follows Olomola from Wealdstone to Bromley, so Stones fans must be sick of Bromley signing their players, but who can blame them when they are of this quality?
