Burnley midfield star Sander Berge is set to snub interest from Premier League giants Manchester United to join fellow top-flight side Fulham after a recent bid was accepted.
With the Premier League season now underway, it means that the transfer window is finally drawing to a close.
Each team is finally coming together, with many players moving both in and out of every club in the Premier League as they all begin to compete for the most coveted trophy in domestic football.
As three teams were relegated last year, many clubs in the top flight will look to these squads to see if they can tempt their star players away for cheap transfer fees.
Manchester United have been trying this with Burnley, but the Clarets’ star is set to move to a London club instead.
Berge to Snub United?
According to Sky Sports News, long-term Manchester United target and star Burnley defensive midfielder Sander Berge is set to snub the Red Devils to join Fulham, as a deal was agreed in the last 24 hours between the two clubs.
United were heavily linked to Berge for a long time, but Fulham have managed to get a deal over the line quicker to secure his signature.
Berge has had a fantastic career so far in both the Championship and the Premier League, and it is no surprise that he has had many admirers throughout the summer window.
Last season he made 40 appearances for the Clarets and played very well despite their relegation. However, his best seasons came during his last two seasons at Sheffield United.
He managed over ten goal contributions in both seasons as he helped guide the Blades back to the Premier League before departing for Burnley.
With another departure for Berge seemingly close, the question is will he be able to continue his fantastic performances?
Fulham or United for Berge?
Despite the stature of Manchester United and it likely being a very attractive move for most players, Fulham will likely be the right choice for the Norwegian.
He will be an instant starter for Fulham rather than needing to fight for his place like he would at United. This will ensure he can continue his development as well as continue to establish himself as a top Premier League midfielder.
