Cardiff City are looking to bolster their squad with the aim of securing promotion back to the Championship and are reportedly interested in a League One attacker.
The current League One leaders are in a good position to secure promotion to the second tier, sitting five points clear of third-place Bradford City. Nevertheless, it has not stopped Brian Barry-Murphy from looking for further additions to his lineup.
Cardiff City Interested in Kyrell Lisbie
According to Football League World, the Bluebirds are reportedly interested in signing Peterborough United winger Kyrell Lisbie. The 22-year-old joined Posh from National League side Braintree Town in the summer for an undisclosed fee.
His impressive performances over the last few seasons have seen him rise through the pyramid rapidly. The winger was playing for Cray Valley Paper Mills in the Isthmian League South East Division in the 2023-24 season before making his ascent to the EFL via the Iron.
The winger’s efforts have improved as this season has progressed and he has become a key part of Luke Williams’ side’s upturn in form. Lisbie has made 28 appearances in all competitions during the 2025-26 campaign.
How has Kyrell Lisbie performed this season?
As mentioned, it has been a remarkable rise for the 22-year-old. In League One, he has contributed four goal involvements in his 21 League One appearances so far.
Lisbie is proving to be a consistent goal threat for Peterborough. According to FotMob, he has had an average of 2.11 shots per 90 minutes, predominantly from his favoured left-wing position.
His understanding and ability to get into dangerous areas is also shown by his average of 6.63 touches in opposition boxes per game in the third tier. This has most likely allowed the former Watford academy graduate to create opportunities for his teammates with an average of 1.38 chances created per match.
At 22 years of age, Lisbie is undoubtedly a talented winger and will likely attract interest throughout his time at London Road, similar to predecessors like Kwame Poku and Malik Mothersille.
Is Kyrell Lisbie a good move for Cardiff City?
With the Bluebirds chasing an instant return to the Championship, it is clear to see why Brian Barry-Murphy would be keen to add options to his attack. Adding quality and depth in the form of Lisbie could help maintain their promotion push in the second half of the season.
Should the Bluebirds follow through with their interest in Lisbie, it will be another young player that the Irish head coach will be able to develop. With a background in coaching at Manchester City’s academy, Barry-Murphy undoubtedly has the ability, considering the growth of players like Dylan Lawlor this campaign.
The question mark will be over the fee that Cardiff may have to part with for the Peterborough man. Having signed a three-year deal in the summer, it is likely that any deal for the 22-year-old will be of significant value.
Despite this, if Cardiff City can secure a deal for Kyrell Lisbie, they will have a player with a very high ceiling with respect to his potential at the club. His performances and development so far this season suggest he could play a significant part in a title charge should a deal be completed.
