Championship side Swansea City have reportedly submitted a bid for a player from League One promotion hopefuls Wycombe Wanderers as the January transfer window approaches.

Wycombe have been surprise contenders for the League One title, topping the table for much of the season so far before dropping to third place behind leaders Birmingham City and Wrexham after defeat to Charlton Athletic.

Many of their stars and their manager have been attracting interest from the Championship as we head towards the opening of the winter window, Richard Kone is reportedly subject to a bidding war between several clubs whereas Matt Bloomfield has been coveted by several sides.

However, Swansea City have turned their attention to Wycombe Wanderers defender Joe Low, according to Pete O’Rourke on X. The 22-year-old has played a key role in the side’s rise up the table, appearing 21 times whilst also contributing four goals in the process.

It is unknown at this stage what the League One club’s stance will be on the bid, with the board likely to be unwilling to jeopardise their opportunity to join Swansea in the second-tier next season by allowing their best players to depart the club.

Swansea City Preparing Early for January

The January window is a good chance for sides to bolster their squads and rectify issues mid-way through the season. Although the market can be tricky, with teams often unwilling to part ways with their best assets and potentially derail their own campaigns. Clubs therefore need to be clever with their recruitment. Swansea appear to be making their move early, before the window officially opens as they continue their push up the table towards the play-off spots.

Their back-to-back wins have placed them in 9th position just three places and four points behind Middlesbrough, who occupy the final spot. Having a young and hungry defender added to the squad could be a major boost, and would likely grow in value as Championship appearances are added to his CV.
