Championship Man Tipped For Bolton Wanderers Switch

Bolton Wanderers have been linked with a summer move for goalkeeper Nathan Broome from Championship outfit Swansea City.

The 23-year-old had a brief stint out on loan in League Two last season, but could be set with a departure from the South Wales side, with both a loan and permanent move being discussed between all parties.

Bolton have already bid farewell to Nathan Baxter earlier this summer and are likely to be in the market for at least one new keeper this summer.

Broome emerges on Bolton radar

As reported by journalist Alan Nixon, Swansea City goalkeeper Nathan Broome is in talks with a move to Bolton Wanderers in League One after he impressed members at the club.

Nixon reports that a loan deal is being discussed but he also could be available for a ‘bargain fee’, opening the door to the possibility of a permanent exit.

No exact figures have been reported thus far but following the departures of Luke Southwood, Jake Coleman and Nathan BaxterBolton are highly likely to be in the market for another goalkeeper following Teddy Sharman-Lowe’s arrival.

How did he fare last season?

Before January, Broome’s only taste of first-team minutes was during a loan stint with AFC Wimbledon in the 2022/23 campaign and several matches on the bench for the Swans.

However in January, Broome was loaned out to League Two promotion-chasers Port Vale to try and get them over the line and back into the third tier.

He did this, though only made one senior appearance for Darren Moore’s side, which came during a heavy EFL Trophy defeat against Wrexham.

What role is he likely to have at Bolton?

In short, the arrival already of Teddy Sharman-Lowe suggests that Broome will be the back up goalkeeper for Bolton in League One next season.

Despite his limited minutes, the 23-year-old has been in and around first-team squads throughout his career and will be more than familiar with the role.

He could potentially be the cup goalkeeper for the club next season, due to SharmanLowe only being on loan at Bolton and with that comes the risk of being cup tied.

This could also suggest that Bolton may prefer a permanent swoop for Broome to avoid using another one of their loan spots.
