Birmingham City are enjoying life in League One with their unbeaten record still intact following their victory over Leyton Orient, but could two of their players have played their final games for the club?
The Blues kicked off their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Reading before victories against Charlton Athletic (EFL Cup), Wycombe Wanderers and Leyton Orient maintained their unbeaten start, leaving them fifth in the table.
Although Birmingham have been extremely busy this summer with new arrivals, they have also lost several players following their relegation to League One.
Marc Roberts, Neil Etheridge and Jordan James have been amongst those that have left St. Andrews already this summer and now two further talents could be set for exits before Friday’s deadline.
Blues duo tipped for exit
As reported by journalist Alan Nixon, Birmingham City duo Siriki Dembele and George Hall are on Blackburn Rovers’ radar, with former manager John Eustace keen to sign the duo before the deadline.
Hall is reportedly keen on a reunion with Eustace after falling out of favour under Blues boss Chris Davies whilst the two clubs are yet to agree on a fee for Dembele.
Birmingham reportedly wants £1.5m for Siriki Dembele but that valuation could drop to £1m plus extras which could entice Blackburn Rovers to swoop in and land the winger.
How did the duo fare last season?
Beginning with Hall, the 20-year-old is a product of the Birmingham City academy but was heavily limited to first-team minutes last season, featuring just nine times in total (one start), mainly because of a hamstring injury.
During those nine matches, Hall failed to contribute a goal or assist for the then-Championship side and only has two goals and an assist to his name as a first-team player at St. Andrews.
Meanwhile, Dembele was heavily involved for Birmingham last season, scoring six goals in 37 appearances in all competitions whilst providing an additional assist.
The 27-year-old has featured once under Chris Davies so far this season which came on the opening day against Reading.
He was an unused substitute against Charlton Athletic in the EFL Cup but was left out of both of their most recent League One squads.
Blackburn Rovers boss John Eustace is keen to sign both of his former players but is running out of time with the transfer window closing on Friday.
