Charlton Athletic midfielder Terry Taylor is a target for SPFL side Dundee as well as League One rivals Bolton Wanderers, according to reports.
The 23-year-old has been unable to make a significant impact this season, having missed a large chunk of the available fixtures. He has only made eight appearances in League One, with six coming as part of the starting XI.
Taylor made the move from Burton Albion in the summer of 2023 following spells at Aberdeen, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Grimsby Town.
Now, according to Pete O’Rourke, both Bolton Wanderers and Dundee are considering a loan move for the player this transfer window.
He stated:
“Charlton midfielder Terry Taylor is a loan target for Bolton and Dundee in this month’s transfer window. #cafc #bwfc #Dundee”
Charlton Athletic’s Mixed Season
Nathan Jones spoke in the summer about targeting players that were promotion ready, so that they would be able to compete and challenge towards the top end of the table this season, but also be prepared for Championship football. This resulted in several pundits, including our own League One Lowdown podcast to place the club amongst the top six clubs in their pre-season predictions.
However, in reality, their season has failed to get started. They occupy 11th place, and have gained some ground on the play-off positions, but after their stuttering first half of the campaign still find themselves seven points off.
This window is an opportunity for the club to rectify some of the issues that have plagued them this season. They have a resolute defence but are the lowest scorers in the top half of the table on just 27 goals, even lower than Lincoln City who have failed to score in their last four games.
The departure of Taylor could mean that more of the wage budget is freed up for some additions but question marks have to be raised as to why a fellow promotion hunting side in Bolton Wanderers are so keen to take a chance on him.
