One of Chelsea’s many wantaway stars has been offered a Stamford Bridge escape as he continues to be frozen out of Enzo Maresca’s side.

The Italian came into a Chelsea side that was heavily unbalanced, amounting to over 40 players as part of their squad after many transfers that failed to pay off. While the Blues look to recoup their losses, it has not phased them too much, with Cole Palmer leading the line for Maresca’s side. His side tasted defeat for only the second time in the league this season, as they fell to defeat at Anfield against Liverpool.

Winning the Championship last year earned the attention of Chelsea, and Maresca has not been shy of admitting he has players who will not be given chances in the team under him, with Raheem Sterling being a prime example of such an occasion.

Chelsea defender could see the light at the end.

One player who is not seeing game time under the current manager is Ben Chilwell, who came from Leicester City in 2020. Signing for a fee of €40 million, it is one of the signings that has failed to have any impact on the side, which began to fall into decline due to off-field issues from that point.

His inability to have an impact on the team has been more for the reason of his fitness instead of ability. During his time in West London, the Englishman has picked up seven injuries, amounting to a total of 97 games missed through injury, an alarming amount for four years.

But now, an exit is on the cards for the left-back, who could now look to revive his career with the right move.

Should Chilwell leave Chelsea?

The answer to this one is quite simple: Chilwell should certainly leave Chelsea. There is clearly no place in the team anymore for the 27-year-old. He has not made a single Premier League appearance for the side, not even from the bench, and his sole appearance for the side has come in the EFL Cup.

TEAMtalk have reported that Borussia Dortmund are monitoring the Champions League winning defender after turning down the chance to sign him in the summer.

A move to Germany could be ideal for him to get his career back on track, especially to a side who are currently flying high. Until their loss to Real Madrid, Dortmund were top of the Champions League and put on an impressive display to go 2-0 up before the Galacticos proved too much for them, as many would expect. Taking a 2-0 lead was enough of a statement to surprise many, and would still have confidence high, giving the 27-year-old the perfect environment to thrive in and turn things around.
