Cheltenham Town are currently battling alongside the majority of the league for a place in the play-off places and it appears as though they aren’t messing around when it comes to their January recruitment.

The Robins suffered relegation from League One last season but have used the 2024/25 campaign as a way to reset and go again, as they currently find themselves just six points off the play-off places.

With the January transfer window opening in less than 24 hours time, clubs across the EFL are ready to make the acquisitions they need in order to meet their season objectives and Cheltenham are no different.

Cheltenham close in on double signing

As reported by Gloucestershire Live journalist Jon Palmer, Cheltenham Town are closing in on the double signing of Brentford youngster Ashley Hay and Waterford defender Darragh Power.

Hay has been a regular feature for Brentford’s academy teams so far this season and looks set to join the League Two side on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

Meanwhile, Power is expected to sign a permanent contract with Cheltenham Town, following the conclusion of the 2024 Irish Premiership season.

Palmer is yet to confirm how many signings Cheltenham Town will be making in January but it appears as though two are going to be signing during the early stages of the transfer window.

How did/have the duo fare this season?

Starting with full-back Darragh Power, the 24-year-old made 35 league appearances for Waterford last season. During that time he contributed to three goals whilst also helping to keep a total of six league clean sheets.

Elsewhere, Ashley Hay has made a handful of appearances at youth level for Brentford this season but is yet to play first-team football within the EFL, suggesting it could take him time to settle to his new adjustments.

Cheltenham fans, what are your thoughts on these signings?
