Millwall and Hibernian are interested in one of Cheltenham Town’s standout players.
With Championship side Millwall and Scottish Premiership side Hibernian both preparing for next season, they’ve set their sights on one player in particular.
The two sides have taken a keen interest in Cheltenham Town winger, Jordan Thomas. The 23-year-old has impressed this season in League Two and could be on his way out this summer.
What’s the Latest on Millwall and Hibernian’s Interest?
Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke shared on his X (formerly Twitter) that Millwall and Hibernian are both tracking Thomas.
O’Rourke also shared that the two teams aren’t the only clubs keeping tabs on Thomas. He didn’t go as far as naming other teams interested in the winger but his post suggests Thomas is likely to have several options this summer.
How Has Cheltenham Town’s Thomas Performed This Season?
Thomas has played 32 times in League Two for Cheltenham, scoring five goals and picking up two assists. Despite being left-footed, he’s featured mainly from the right side, showing his ability to use both feet.
His performances in the league have received an average Sofascore rating of 6.9 – which is the fifth highest in the Cheltenham Town team.
With five league goals, Thomas is the third joint top scorer for the Robins. Thomas does have the most shots on target per game with an average of 0.6 and is tied with Joel Colwill for most shots per game with 1.8.
Creatively, Thomas has contributed with two big chances created this season and 0.8 key passes on average per game.
Who Will Win the Race for Thomas?
Thomas looks likely to have plenty of options this summer. The interest comes just over a year since he joined Cheltenham in League One from National League South side, Bath City.
A move to Millwall is likely an intriguing prospect for Thomas. Romain Esse’s departure to Premier League side, Crystal Palace, has left space for a new young winger to join the club.
The development and sale of Esse will likely give Thomas hope he can have a similar experience at Millwall if he does join them.
A move north of the border to Scotland could also be beneficial for Thomas. Hibernian are third in the league at the time of writing and could find themselves in Europe next season.
If they do end up in Europe next season, Thomas will get the chance to experience European football and test himself on the continent.
