Chesterfield have confirmed defender Tyrone Williams and midfielder Mike Jones have penned new contracts with the National League side, via a statement on the club’s website.
The duo have played an important role under Paul Cook so far this season and have both agreed new contracts until June 2025, with their original deals due to end next summer.
Williams is a 29-year-old full-back who has been with the Spireites since his arrival from Solihull Moors in November 2021. He’s scored two goals in 12 league appearances so far this season, proving to be reliable in both boxes this season.
Meanwhile, Jones joined the club in August 2022 after a successful trial with the club, following his departure from Barrow. The 36-year-old has made 14 league appearances so far this season but has earned ten bookings in the process.
Paul Cook’s side have recently tied down defender Jamie Grimes and forward Joe Quigley and have now been greeted by two more additions to the new contracts list at the football club.
Chesterfield currently sit top of the National League standings, eight points ahead of Bronley in second whilst having two games in hand. The club are also in the third round of the FA Cup and round four of the FA Trophy.
Both Williams and Jones have penned new deals until June 2025 and have done so ahead of Saturday’s National League clash against a strong Aldershot Town side, who have also had a very strong start to the season.

Williams agreeing on a new contract is a big plus for Paul Cook’s side as he’s always been reliable since arriving from Solihull Moors in 2021.
As for Jones, his age and yellow card status could imply that he is beginning to show signs of a struggle in terms of adapting and maintaining the pace of the National League. However, he’s been another key player for the club and his experience will be an important asset moving forward.
