Cole Palmer’s Chelsea future has hit the headlines this season with reported interest from Manchester United, Man City and Liverpool creating doubts over whether he will leave Stamford Bridge in the summer.
Palmer has not had the best season, compared to the high standards set prior and has struggled in front of goal at times. He has recorded 14 Premier League goals, but has failed to increase his tally since mid-January.
However, at just 22 years old he is still considered pre-peak and will continue to improve over the next few years. This high ceiling is likely what has continued to attract some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.
What Interest Has There Been in Cole Palmer?
Premier League Champions Liverpool have been monitoring Palmer at Chelsea with Manchester City reportedly going so far as to submit an enquiry as to his availability.
However, Manchester United are understood to be most keen, but admit that a deal is impossible with the length of his contract.
“Likewise, Chelsea have absolutely no intention of letting Palmer go. They don’t feel he’s a million miles away and he’s aware of that.
“Even with the likes of Kendry Paez and Willian Estevao set to arrive at Chelsea, Palmer knows he needs to step up and his people say he’s ready to do so.
“Chelsea will be active in terms of outgoings but Palmer isn’t one of those who’ll be cast aside.
“Indeed, people at Chelsea feel he could play a part in attracting Liam Delap, they know each other well from their time together at Manchester City and that can only help.” adds Graeme Bailey to TBR.
What does Cole Palmer think on the Manchester United interest?
Palmer is, according to some reports, a boyhood Manchester United fan. So the opportunity to pull on the red shirt at Old Trafford in one of its last seasons as the home of the Red Devils could be tempting. However, according to reports today, Palmer is not interested in a potential move away from Chelsea and is determined to rediscover his lost form.
It is unlikely that the player would say publicly that he wants to move, especially with the length of his contract and the fact the season has not ended, but it does perhaps highlight his dedication to the Blues. He may also be looking at the likes of Rashford, Antony, Sancho, Hojlund and Zirkzee who have all struggled in the forward spots for Manchester United, with the former three picking up form after they have left. The Red Devils are not as attractive as they once were.
