Coventry City Contract Rebel Rejects Offer

Coventry City

Coventry City midfielder Callum O’Hare is set to leave the Sky Blues this summer after rejecting a new contract offer, as confirmed via Coventry Live journalist Andy Turner.

The 25-year-old is out of contract at the end of the 2023/24 season but has turned down the offer of a new deal in order to pursue his dreams of playing in the Premier League, causing a blow for Mark Robins’ side.

In an article, Turner stated…

Soon to be out of contract Callum O’Hare is another who, reluctantly looks like he’s set to part company with the Sky Blues after declining a new contract offer and appearing to be seeking to fulfill his Premier League aspirations.’

Will this affect their promotion hopes?

Callum O’Hare returned from an ACL injury in late 2023 and initially got off to a terrific start, including a brace against former league leaders Leicester City.

However, the midfielder has been benched for the last few matches in favour of Kasey Palmer and despite creating Coventry’s winning goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup, he is set to depart.

The Sky Blues are likely to utilise O’Hare to their advantage in the remaining matches of the season as well as their FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United before the two parties will part ways.

What’s next for O’Hare?

The playmaker will leave the Sky Blues on a free transfer this summer in order to pursue a Premier League switch. Various clubs have been linked with moves for the midfielder in the past, including Fulham but nothing has materialised.

It is almost certain that O’Hare will be playing Premier League football next season, even if Coventry manage to secure a late promotion push over the coming weeks.

How will Coventry react?

The Sky Blues have already landed Peterborough’s Ephron Mason-Clark, who will arrive in the summer and are likely to be in the market almost immediately for an O’Hare replacement for next season.

No names have been credited with a move to Coventry in recent weeks, but work is now likely to begin following the reveal of O’Hare’s contract snub.
