Coventry City have been revealed to be actively monitoring Cardiff City duo Dylan Lawlor and Ronan Kpakio.

The pair have been a key part of the Bluebirds’ defence as they charge towards the League One title, with both emerging as first-team options for Brian Barry-Murphy this season.

While both were absent for City’s crucial win away at Bradford City to strengthen their grip on the top spot, they are still attracting the attention of teams in the leagues above.

Sky Blues Watch Duo

According to Wales Online, scouts from Coventry City were present at Cardiff’s win over Wigan Athletic earlier this month in order to watch both Dylan Lawlor and Ronan Kpakio.

Frank Lampard’s side, who are in a similarly comfortable position at the top of their league, have been active with their incomings going forward, signing both Romaine Esse and Min-Hyeok Yang on loan.

However, the West Midlands club will likely have to wait, with City holding a firm no-sale stance for either due to their importance in the first-team squad this season.

Wales Online states that Cardiff are confident of keeping both players beyond this window, with a seven or even eight-figure bid required to pry either one of the duo away from South Wales in the future.

Sky Blues are not alone in watching the pair, with Premier League side Brentford actively monitoring Kpakio, but are joined in that endeavour by teams such as Manchester United, AC Milan and Nice.

Lawlor is also attracting interest from the English top flight and beyond and has suitors from the MLS and elsewhere in Europe, alongside three unnamed Championship clubs.

Interest Inevitable

As is the case, it is fairly straightforward for clubs to be monitoring a lot of players, and due to how impressive they have been this season, it is very unsurprising that both Dylan Lawlor and Ronan Kpakio are on Coventry City’s radar.

Right-back has long been a concern for the Sky Blues, with Milan van Ewijk often tipped with moves away from the CBS Arena, with both Wolverhampton Wanderers and Wolfsburg pursuing a deal in the summer, according to the Coventry Telegraph.

Both look to have the chance to make a leap into the Premier League in the summer, and there will be a serious case that they should make the jump to try and fight for a place with one of these clubs.

Lawlor’s emergence as a first-team regular for Cardiff has been very impressive, but as is the case with Kpakio as well, their best chances of developing their careers are to stick with Brian Barry-Murphy and Cardiff City, with the Bluebirds in a very strong position to build going forward should they secure promotion.
