Coventry City star Jack Rudoni is ‘happy’ at the CBS Arena, despite reports linking him with a move away from the Championship side.

Rudoni joined Coventry City last summer for a reported ÂŁ5 million total fee from League One side Huddersfield Town and excelled under Frank Lampard, playing a crucial role behind their rise into the play-off places.

Despite the club losing to eventual winners Sunderland in the semi-finals, the Sky Blues are likely to be targeting another top six campaign next season and are unlikely to be raided by rival clubs this summer.

Rudoni ‘happy’ at Coventry

According to BBC Sport journalist Mantej Mann, Jack Rudoni is ‘happy’ at Coventry City despite not being promoted to the Premier League and ‘enjoys’ playing under current manager Frank Lampard.

Rudoni has quickly established himself as one of Coventry’s standout players at the CBS Arena and is only 12 months into a four-year contract, meaning that a rival side would need to offer a substantial fee to lure the Sky Blues into negotiations.

The 23-year-old has mostly been deployed as part of a midfield three under Frank Lampard, though injuries within the squad also saw him operate as a left wing-back and left winger during the 2024/25 campaign.

How did he fare last season?

After arriving from Huddersfield Town following their relegation from the Championship, Rudoni quickly silenced any doubters who questioned his ability in the second tier.

His first goal contribution arrived in September when he assisted Ellis Simms‘ header against Watford in a 1-1 draw and from then on, the playmaker’s rise with the Sky Blues got better and better.

A superb run including a brace against Middlesbrough in May which confirmed Coventry’s play-off place, brought to an end what had been a truly inspirational debut season – with Rudoni also scoring against Sunderland in the play-offs.

In total, the 23-year-old made 49 appearances for Coventry City last season, scoring ten goals and provided 12 assists in the process.

Who has been linked with signing him?

Following the conclusion of the 2024/25 Championship season, rumours quickly began linking with Rudoni with clubs.

Firstly, Southampton, Sheffield United and Coventry’s arch-rivals Leicester City were all linked with an interest according to EFL Analysis.

Journalist Craig Hoppe also reported earlier this month that Premier League giants Newcastle United had scouted the midfielder during the Championship play-off semi-finals.

Fellow journalist Graeme Bailey has also linked Leeds United with a possible switch.

Though no price tag has been revealed, Coventry City aren’t likely to be ‘open to offers’ for the playmaker and his contract status would also suggest that a significant eight-figure offer is almost certainly the ball-park clubs would need to hit.

The Championship side drove a hard bargain when it came to the sale of Viktor Gyokeres to Sporting CP, pocketing ÂŁ17.5 million before any add-ons/extras were added. Gyokeres had just 12 months left on his deal, whereas Rudoni has three years and is English which almost-always means the fee is increased.

With Coventry also likely to be competing for the top six next season, it is increasingly unlikely that they’d consider any offers from a promotion-rival.

Coventry fans, what would you say is a realistic price tag for Rudoni if he were to move this summer?
