Craig Bellamy has become the first Wales manager to avoid defeat in his first four games. This comes after his side claimed a 1-0 victory over Montenegro in Cardiff on Monday night.

Wales currently sit two points behind leaders Turkey in group B4 in the UEFA Nations League after the first four games. This is giving Welsh fans a real reason to believe in the Craig Bellamy as he got his team playing some very attractive and intense football, something in which many Welsh supporters have been crying out for.

Clear Style of Play

Under previous manager ,Rob Page, Wales felt like a team that relied on big moments and individual performances to carry them through games but this is completely different under new manager Craig Bellamy as there is a real style of play that he is trying to implement.

In three out of the four games so far under Bellamy, his side has dominated both possession and chances created statistics in the games and you can see that he is setting up his side to play a very progressive a positive style of football.

Bellamy made seven changes from the side that drew to Iceland going into the Montenegro game but his side still played the same way which shows that his methods are getting through to the players.

Delivering what he promised

Since Bellamy took over in June he promised to bring an ‘identity’ back to the Wales squad. This is exactly what we have seen in the first four games as Wales look rejuvenated and reborn under Bellamy.

We are now seeing a team that is full of energy all over the pitch, takes a risk with the high press and also has the confidence and ability to play out from the back and not just play the ball long which gives them a lot more control in the game.

Just missing the killer instinct

So far Wales have not won a game by more than a one goal margin and seem to lack that real killer instinct to finish games off which could take them to the next level if they can sort out.

The failure to really kill games off did actually cost them two points when they drew to Iceland away from home on Friday night and denied them the chance to be top of the group before the next round of fixtures.

Wales were two goals to the good but conceded two goals in three minutes and ultimately cost them two points but that has been the only real hiccup in the Bellamy era so far.

The group is only going to grow and develop with time and games together but after just four matches in two international camps with not much preparation, the Bellamy era looks very positive as Wales have picked up eight points and are yet to be beat, all whilst playing some very attractive and exciting football.
