Crystal Palace are in advanced talks to sign 19-year-old Millwall winger, Romain Esse.
The Premier League side have been keeping tabs on Esse, who is having an impressive season with Millwall in the Championship but now look like they’re nearing a deal for him.
Esse Bound for Crystal Palace
Sami Mokbel shared on his X (formerly Twitter) that the two sides were very close to nearing a deal. He said, although the deal is yet to be completed, the deal is very advanced.
This comes after South London Press confirmed several Premier League clubs including Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United have been watching Esse with a view to a move for the winger.
Despite the interest from other Premier League clubs, it looks like it will be Crystal Palace who will be getting their hands on Esse.
How Has Esse Performed This Season?
Esse has had a positive first half of the 2024/25 Championship, receiving an average Sofascore rating of 6.99 for performances this season.
The wingers played and started 24 games this season for Millwall, averaging 85 minutes per game. In those 24 games, he’s scored four goals and assisted one.
Despite his low number of assists, Esse has been a bright spark in the Millwall attack. Esse’s averaged 1.1 key passes per game and created six big chances for his teammates.

Esse looks like he’s in for an exciting career and at just 19, he’s got plenty of time to make a name for himself at any level.
This season, he’s shown his ability while playing for Millwall, putting in some good performances in a Millwall team that’s playing below expectations after an impressive end to last campaign.
Esse has the most big chances created of any Millwall player with six goals, one more than Joe Bryan in second. If he can carry on this creativity for Palace, he could become an instant hit amongst their fans.
