Crystal Palace vs Frederikstad is the Europa League Conference League playoff match, which will be the London club’s first European match since 1998-99 when they played in the Intertoto Cup.

Palace initially earned a place in the Europa League by winning the FA Cup. They were stripped of their place due to ownership disputes between them and Lyon, who also feature in the Europa League.

Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace have switched places, and Palace will now need to progress past their Norwegian opposition to take up a place in the group phase.

Frederikstad earned their place in the Conference League by defeating Molde in the Norwegian Cup final on penalties. In the competition, they also won the semi-final on penalties and required extra time in the quarter-final.

Frederikstad dropped from the Europa League qualifying phase, where they were defeated by Danish team Midtjylland 5-1 over two legs.

They currently sit eighth in the Norwegian League after 18 games. They have won seven and drawn five.

Crystal Palace started the Premier League season with a 0-0 draw against Chelsea, having won the Community Shield against Liverpool on penalties. The game was surrounded by controversy after Eberechi’s first-half free kick was disallowed after Marc Guehi was within one metre of the wall. Both of these Palace stars have been subject to transfer speculation. Ben Jacobs has reported that Spurs have agreed a fee with Palace for Eze.
