Crystal Palace starlet Malcom Ebiowei is set to undergo a medical at Oxford United ahead of a prospective move according to reports.

Oxford United manager Des Buckingham is in the process of building his squad as he looks to guide the O’s to Championship survival after their promotion last season.

It is their first time ever playing in the Championship, and their fans will hope that is not a short stay in the second tier.

They have made some solid additions to their squad so far this transfer window but will need more high-quality talent if they are to avoid relegation this season.

The O’s are seemingly about to add yet another vital part to their attack, as a young Premier League talent is on his way to Oxfordshire.

Ebiowei to Oxford?

Crystal Palace winger Malcom Ebiowei is set to undergo a medical with Oxford United ahead of a loan move to the Championship side according to Football Insider.

The 20-year-old made his Championship debut during the 2021/22 season after he showed impressive glimpses in a season overshadowed by financial trouble at Derby County.

He showed enough of his talent despite this, as he earned his move to Crystal Palace in the following summer transfer window.

To continue his development, he was loaned out to Hull City during the 2022/23 campaign after only making five appearances for Palace after his arrival.

He struggled with the Tigers, making just 12 appearances without scoring or assisting once in a disappointing second Championship campaign.

In an attempt to reignite his form, he was sent out to Belgian side RWD Molenbeek in the second half of last season to get game time after a spell with the Palace youth team.

However, he only made five appearances in Belgium and yet again struggled to find the form that he showed during his Derby days.

Ebiowei is still a talented player, and at only 20 years of age, he has plenty of time to develop.

A full season in a team where he will likely start most games could be exactly what he needs. If he is able to build consistency across a full season, we may finally see the talented player that we saw at Derby just two years ago.
