Derby County Announce Retained List for 2024/2025 Season:

Championship side Derby County have revealed the club’s retained list following the 2024/25 season. Many of the club’s League One promotion winning squad have been let go by the club.

The Rams have also confirmed which players have been offered new deals going into next season.

Derby County Players on the move

Tom Barkhuizen, Sonny Bradley, Tyrese Fornah, Rohan Luthra, and Conor Washington are all leaving the club following the expiry of their contracts.

In addition, Jeff Hendrick, Erik Pieters, and Kemar Roofe will depart after their short-term deals have ended.

Tom Barkhuizen will be one that may come as a disappointment to some Derby fans, with the winger playing a crucial role in their road to promotion last season.

The 31-year-old made 14 goal contribution’s during the 2023/24 campaign and registered 19 appearances in the Championship this season.

As for the short-term deals, Hendrick, Pieters, and Roofe made a combined three appearances between them, as they struggled to make a meaningful impact on the squad.

Contracts Offered

Out-of-contact Craig Forsyth and Liam Thompson are to be offered new terms to remain with the Rams beyond the summer, with Kane Wilson having the option to extend his contract activated.

Craig Forsyth will be heading into his 14th season as a Derby County player.

At the age of 36, the Scotsman continues to have a positive impact on John Eustace’s’ side, with 39 appearances and seven goal contributions last season.

The club would also benefit off keeping Liam Thompson signed on, with the 23-year-old proving to be a key player in Derby’s fight for survival in the Championship.

As for Kane Wilson, his extension will provide the Rams with more depth in the right back position.

The 25-year-old made 33 appearances last season, assisting once and scoring twice.

End of loans

Harrison Armstrong, Marcus Harness, Nat Phillips, David Ozoh, and Jerry Yates have all returned to their parent clubs following the expiry of their loan deals.

Noticeably, Harness and Yates were vital in most games for Derby last season, coming up with big goals in some crucial moments.

Nat Phillips also made a huge impact, forming a great partnership with Matt Clarke and Sondre Klingen Langås towards the end of the season.

Harrison Armstrong also proved to be a useful asset for the run in, appearing 15 times for the Rams.

As for David Ozoh, a promising start was dealt with a range of different injuries to dampen his season.

What’s next for Derby County?

Since appointing John Eustace, there has been a remarkable turnaround at the club, picking up 21 points out of 41 available.

Despite looking destined to go down with Paul Warne, Eustace managed to steady the ship and guide the club towards another season Championship football.

The Rams now have a big summer ahead, as they look to build on the progress made over the last year.

They have been linked to several players including Paudie O’Connor and Ethan Erhahon.
