National League side Eastleigh FC have announced the signing of Tyrese Shade from League Two side Swindon Town, as confirmed via a statement on the club’s website.
The St Kitts & Nevis international becomes Eastleigh’s fourth signing of the transfer window, joining on a free transfer after Swindon announced he was to depart upon the expiration of his contract on the club’s retained list.
Shade’s Career So Far
Shade began his career with fellow National League side Solihull Moors before quickly being snapped up by Leicester City’s academy system in 2017.
Shade failed to make a senior appearance for the Foxes, but spent the 2021/22 season out on loan with Walsall, where he played 44 times before signing for Swindon the following season.
During Shade’s two seasons at Swindon, he made over 70 appearances, scoring six times and assisting four, having been deployed out on the wings, upfront, and even as a wing-back.
Last season, he found himself on loan in the National League with his boyhood club, Solihull Moors, before being released by Swindon this summer.
Last Season By Numbers
During his loan spell at Solihull Moors, Shade made 19 appearances, scoring twice and assisting once, as well as helping the side to both the play-off final and FA Trophy final.
Shade was mainly played on the wing, where he accumulated a 73% dribble success rate as well as an 86% pass accuracy, showing his ability to cause chaos in the offensive third and trouble opposition defences.
He also averaged 0.7 key passes per game and a 38% cross accuracy, showing his efficiency with the ball to find a player in dangerous areas.
Where Does Shade Fit At Eastleigh?
The addition of Shade improves Kelvin Davis’s attacking options greatly.
He is a similar player to the departing Enzio Boldewijn, as he is also a tricky winger who can play out wide or as a wing-back.
His versatility will also be an asset to Davis as a manager, who has alternated at times between a back three and back four.
