Everton Make Player Available as League One Clubs Battle For Signature

Everton

David Moyes and Everton appear well stocked in the goalkeeping department after the arrival of Mark Travers. This has led to the likely departure of Harry Tyrer, with a couple of League One sides credited with an interest in the player.

The 23-year-old spent last season on loan with Steve Bruce’s Blackpool, keeping 13 clean sheets across a total of 42 appearances for the Seasiders.

Everton Goalkeeper Available After Multiple Loan Spells

Tyrer had been a regular at development and youth level for the Toffees before moving on loan to gain first-team experience. His first loan was a season-long spell with Chester in the National League North, where the goalkeeper kept 18 clean sheets to help the team reach the play-offs.

His development was further aided by playing 42 times in Chesterfield’s title-winning National League team in the 2023/24 season. The next step was to move up to the third tier with Blackpool for the 2024/25 campaign, and it was a mixed spell for the player, whose displays highlighted his potential but also displayed his lack of experience at that level.

Tyrer’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2026, and the Toffees have now reportedly made the player available on a permanent transfer. The English keeper averaged 2.5 saves per game in League One, ranking him 12th of all shot-stoppers in the third tier.

League One Clubs Target Former Blackpool Loanee

Everton prefer a permanent move for their academy graduate this summer, according to Alan Nixon (paywall), but the same report indicates that Burton Albion and Stevenage are targeting a loan move for the player, with Gary Bowyer’s outfit leading the chase.

The Premier League club may see little benefit in another loan as the player can leave for free next summer, so they seemingly could seek a loan fee for his services, but there are no confirmed reports on this.

Tyrer has reached double figures for clean sheets in each of his three loan spells away from Everton and should be an attractive signing for clubs in League One. Burton Albion narrowly avoided relegation from the third tier and require upgrades across the squad to improve their fortunes.

Stevenage have lost Murphy Cooper to League One rivals Barnsley and appear to be in the market for a new first-choice.

The League One outfits appear to be a match for the goalkeeper and it should be interesting to see who secures his signature.

Blackpool were reportedly keen on a return for the goalkeeper but deemed the price too high, before moving for Bailey Peacock-Farrell on loan from Birmingham City.
