League One Luton Town have seen a seven figure bid for Lincoln City’s Rob Street turned down, sources have revealed to The Football Deck. Championship and other League One clubs are also keen on the player.

The news broke earlier today from journalist Pete O’Rourke that an offer of £1 million plus add-ons had been rejected for the former Doncaster Rovers man. Following this news, we verified this the information with a source close to the deal who confirmed that fellow League One side Luton Town were the mystery bidders. It has also been confirmed that there are several other clubs including some in the Championship that are looking at the player as the deadline approaches.

The Hatters were relegated from the Championship last season, their second relegation in as many years. They currently sit in 7th in the table, having beaten Burton Albion 3-0 yesterday.

Luton have already brought in the likes of Nahki Wells, Jerry Yates, Cohen Bramall and Hakeem Odoffin amongst others this window.

Lincoln City Rejected Seven Figure Bid for Rob Street from Luton Town

Rob Street moved to Sincil Bank last summer, but failed to make an impact in the Imps’ first team in the first half of the campaign. He was then sent out on loan to League Two Doncaster Rovers.

The 23-year-old went on to score 12 goals in 24 games as Grant McCann’s side earned promotion to League One as Champions.

It is understood that more than one club have shown an interest in his signing, with League One and Championship clubs considering making a move.

Lincoln City Still Planning for Big Future for Street at the LNER

Despite interest from numerous clubs, Lincoln are still keen to keep hold of the player and see a big future for him at the club.

When news emerged earlier in the week that Doncaster may be looking to go back for Street, club sources confirmed that they were not actively planning to sell the forward and added that they were planning for a “big season” with the player in the team.

He has played a key role this season for Michael Skubala and cemented his place as one of the first names on the team sheet.

However, Lincoln have only received a fee north of £1million once in their history, the estimated £1.5m deal that saw Jovon Makama move to Norwich City this summer. Meaning that they may be tempted to cash in with a huge profit.

However, the player has made a huge impact since returning to the LNER Stadium this season and with little time to find a replacement it could damage the club’s ambitions.

We do not know at this point in time whether Luton will submit another bid, or if they will move onto other targets. However, Lincoln City do not need to sell the player and there is no doubt their team would be better with him in it.

Editor’s Note – After the publication of this article it was pointed out that The Stacey West’s Gary Hutchinson had posted an article whilst we were waiting for approval for this one from a second source. I have written for The Stacey West in the past and wouldn’t knowingly mark our work as an exclusive without attribution unless we were unaware of their article. We stand by our own exclusive sources and the information we were provided from two independent separate sources on the news.  You can see we always reference our other publications with hyperlinks in our articles as we have with Pete O’Rourke. We have reached out to Gary, who I have known and worked with over the last few years and offered to add a link to his original source in our article.
