FC Halifax Town are reportedly set to complete their latest summer signing in the form of King’s Lynn Town midfielder Josh Hmami.
The 25-year-old played a crucial role for the National League North side last season, helping to guide them into the play-off places before slipping to a quarter-final defeat at the hands of Chorley.
However, with the 2024/25 season firmly at an end, clubs across the country can begin their preparations for next season and it appears increasingly likely that Halifax are set to bring in new players.
Aveley’s David Kawa is also set to join the Shaymen, meaning a double signing is creaping ever closer for the club.
Hmami set for Halifax switch
As reported by journalist Pete O’Rourke, FC Halifax Town are ‘poised to sign’ midfielder Josh Hmami on a permanent contract.
Hmami hit double figures for goal contributions in the National League North last season and has emerged on the radar of Halifax as a deal looks increasingly likely to be agreed by all parties.
The midfielder could become their fourth signing of the summer if he is announced prior to Kawa.
How did he fare last season?
The 25-year-old joined King’s Lynn Town last summer from Southport and registered two assists in his first six matches for the club.
However, Hmami had to wait until September to register his first goal for the club. This came during a 1-1 draw against Worksop Town in an FA Cup qualifier.
In the National League North alone, Hmami registered 37 appearances for the club, contributing three goals and nine assists in the process.
He also scored two in two during their cup matches too, taking his overall tally to 14 goal contributions in 39 matches.
Is he ready for the National League?
Halifax have already lost several key players over the course of the summer, which included loan midfielders.
However, this time around Halifax will be led by the management of former King’s Lynn Town’s Adam Lakeland – which answers a big question regarding the signing.
Lakeland will already have a very strong idea as to what Hmami is capable of, if he’s ready for the step up and where he’s likely to play to maximise his output.
Hmami has already proven that he’s very good in the sixth tier and has certainly done enough to justify a step up.
