Fleetwood Town are braced to lose midfielder Brendan Wiredu during the January transfer window, following an increased interest in the player according to journalist Alan Nixon.
The 24-year-old has attracted interest from clubs in England and France ahead of a potential move and the League One side are already reportedly preparing for life without him.
Wiredu has made ten appearances in all competitions for Fleetwood Town so far this season, scoring twice for the club, despite the side experiencing a difficult start to the season.
Fleetwood Town suffered a heavy 4-0 FA Cup defeat against Cambridge United yesterday, extending their losing run to three matches, conceding ten goals without reply. The side are 21st in the division, two points from safety having won just four of their 18 league matches so far this season.
The midfielder joined Fleetwood Town in July 2022, joining for an undisclosed fee from League Two side Colchester United. He’s made 57 appearances in all competitions for the club, contributing to six goals in the process.
No clubs have been directly linked to Wiredu’s services according to Alan Nixon, but the League One side are braced for bids for the midfielder’s services and given their frustrating start to the campaign, there is a possibility that he could leave the club in January.
Fleetwood Town returns to league action next weekend as they travel to Northampton Town in search of their first win in four matches.

Wiredu has enjoyed a strong start to the season with Fleetwood Town and his individual performances have deserved a move in the January transfer window.
The issue for Fleetwood is that they need to retain their key players to give themselves the best chance of avoiding relegation to League Two this season and losing Wiredu would be a major blow for the football club.
