Peterborough United winger Kwame Poku looks set the depart this summer, with a range of clubs looking to capture the talented youngster.

The 23-year-old made 20 goal contributions in just 27 appearances during the 2024/25 League One campaign.

With his contract expiring on the 30th of June 2025, Birmingham City, Sheffield United, and Sunderland are all reportedly interested.

Kwame Poku on the move:

According to Peterborough Telegraph, director of football, Barry Fry, has been quoted saying: “The last time I heard, there were 26 clubs in for Kwame.

“I’m not surprised.

“The kid has what it takes to reach the Premier League.

“We have developed him over the past four years to the point where he is ready to take the next step in his career.”

The most recent club to register interest is newly promoted side Sunderland, with reports suggesting that the Wearsiders are keen on signing the young winger.

How did Kwame Poku fare at Peterborough United:

Since his arrival from Colchester on the 1st of August 2021, Poku has come up with many memorable moments for The Posh, with 59 goal contributions in 147 games.

The Ghanian winger also started in Peterborough’s EFL Trophy final in 2024, where they overcame Wycombe Wanderers 2-0 to lift the trophy.

Despite not managing to clinch promotion back to the Championship, Poku has made a significant impact for the League One side, as he now looks ready to make the next step up in his career.

Where does this leave Peterborough United:

Over the last couple of years, Peterborough have been familiar with the feeling of seeing promising players depart from the club.

Despite generating a positive revenue from these sales, talented players like Ephron Mason-Clarke, Harrison Burrows, and Ronnie Edwards have departed in recent times, leaving the London Road Stadium behind them.

After a disappointing season, Darren Ferguson will look to rely on a fresh set of talented players to take The Posh forward, with Abrham Odoh and Cian Hayes possibly having a key part to play.
