Former Arsenal Defender Secures Lower League Move

English Football League newcomers Bromley have secured the signing of young Arsenal defender Taylor Foran on a permanent deal.

The 20-year-old centre back, who captained the Gunners under-18 squad, was released by the Premier League club having failed to make any senior appearances. However, Bromley have swooped to secure the player’s signature on a permanent deal with the official club website confirming the news.

A Physical Defender Who’s Hungry for Gametime

Taylor Foran featured in 13 games during last season’s Premier League 2 last season, scoring one goal during that spell. He also had a period on loan during the second half of the 2022-23 season at National League side Hartlepool United, making 11 appearances in League Two.

He’s a no-nonsense defender, who’s a real vocal presence on the pitch, a natural born leader for the future, he reads the game quite well and a strong and physical player, especially in duelling situations. He achieved 72.3 touches and 47.3% accurate passes percentage, making him a fluent and consistently active defender in transition and a valuable asset with room to grow and reach the potential he may have.

This Could Be Some Shrewd Business Here

Bromley have picked up another Arsenal prospect and the Ravens has previous history recruiting from the Gunners academy squad, likely due to Andy Woodman’s connections with the club. Central defender Alex Kirk and winger Kido Taylor-Hart were both loaned into the squad last season as well as goalkeeper Tom Smith in two seasons ago.

With his football intelligence, his strength in varied defensive situations and his control and comfortability on the ball, Taylor Foran is a young prospect who needs first team football and a club like Bromley, in my opinion, is the right environment for him, as its a brand new English Football League club entering League Two and that dressing room will be on the edge of their seats in excitement and nervousness to face some historic league clubs, such as Notts County, Bradford City and Doncaster Rovers.

With further additions to the defence already in place, such as ex-loanee and Charlton Athletic prospect Deji Elerewe and Fulham youth player Idris Odutayo, in addition to the new contracts signed, sealed and delivered for captain and playoff final penalty scorer Byron Webster and the experienced Callum Reynolds, the Ravens are building a squad that could potentially guarantee them survival and a second consecutive season in the English Football League and help make their debut season in League Two a successful one.
