Former, Charlton Athletic loanee Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is being touted by newly promoted Championship side Portsmouth, according to LondonWorld.
The 21-year-old winger has struggled for game time since new manager Oliver Glasner has taken charge, as well as the return to fitness of Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze a loan move may well be on the cards.
Who is Jesurun Rak-Sakyi?
The winger capable of playing either on the right or left-hand side, started his youth career at Chelsea, before switching to Crystal Palace in 2019.
The winger has only had one loan spell away from Selhurst Park, in the 22/23 season he was sent on a season-long loan deal to Charlton Athletic of League One.
The loan spell was valuable for the youngster and on a personal note a successful one. He appeared in 49 games for The Addicks in all competitions managing to score 15 goals and provide 9 assists. He was then voted Supporters Player of The Season.
At U18 and U21 level for Palace, he has scored 31 goals in 57 games and assisted 16 goals.
The 23/24 Premier League season started okay for the youngster, coming off the bench for 7 minutes against Arsenal in a 1-0 defeat. Before injuring his hamstring against Tottenham, after 30 minutes an injury which kept him out until April, when he was named on the bench for three of the last four games of the season.
Where would Rak-Sakyi fit at Portsmouth?
John Mousinho has so far done an excellent job with Portsmouth, in his first full season in management he won the league by ending their seven-year stay in League One, only losing five games across the entire season.
Portsmouth tends to line up in a 4-2-3-1 shape but has lost wingers Myles Peart-Harris and Abu Kamara who featured in 12 and 52 games, as they have returned to their parent clubs, as well as releasing Josh Martin who only featured in eight games all season. This leaves Portsmouth currently with, Paddy Lane and Gavin Whyte as natural wingers as well as Callum Lang who can also operate out wide.
The England U20 winger will most likely feature from the right-hand side for Pompey, with the flexibility that Paddy Lane offers, he is a similar profile to Abu Kamara in terms of being direct and providing great athleticism. The move would also provide Rak-Sakyi to showcase to the new manager Glasner, or other potential suitors of his attributes.
