Former Crewe Alexandra midfielder Regan Griffiths has agreed a deal to sign for National League side Kidderminster Harriers, as confirmed by journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The midfielder is a product of the League Two side’s academy but was released last month and is set to pen a short-term contract under Phil Brown’s resurgent Kidderminster Harriers side.
Griffiths was released following the conclusion of his loan spell at fellow National League side Boreham Wood. At Luke Garrard’s side, the midfielder made five appearances but failed to cement a regular spot in the team.
Releasing a short post on Twitter, journalist Pete O’Rourke confirmed the news by stating…
‘Former Crewe midfielder Regan Griffiths has agreed a deal to join Kidderminster Harriers on a free transfer.’
Another step towards safety
Since the arrival of experienced manager Phil Brown, Kidderminster Harriers have given themselves a major boost to their own survival hopes.
The Harriers have won four matches on the bounce in the National League, keeping two clean sheets in the process. Despite sitting rock bottom, Brown’s side are now 22nd, one point from safety and the addition of Griffiths will further solidify their chances of survival.
How will this signing impact Kidderminster’s season?
In recent matches, Phil Brown has helped to boost the recent form of Ashley Hemmings and Amari Morgan-Smith who have struck five goals in their last four matches combined since his arrival with fellow forward Gold Omotayo also finding his feet with the club.
Therefore, Griffiths should be ecstatic at the prospect of working under an experienced manager who has proven himself throughout the EFL and Premier League.
He has made over 70 first-team appearances in his career to date and will possess the qualities in his play that can have a significant effect on the club’s midfield options moving forward.
Will Regan Griffiths Keep Kidderminster Up?
Ultimately, whether Regan Griffiths himself will be the difference to staying up or going down will depend on whether Phil Brown will allow him to recapture the form that allowed him to break through in the first place.
However, his experience in the EFL as well as his taste of National League football this season should allow him to settle in quickly at the fifth-tier side and if he can add goals to his game, they stand an additional chance of staying up.
